The BU College Democrats will be hosting Francis Bok, a former slave and current abolitionist and author. On May 15, 1986, he was captured and enslaved at age seven during an Arab militia raid on the village of Nymlal in Southern Sudan during the Second Sudanese Civil War. Bok lived in bondage for ten years before escaping imprisonment in Kurdufan, Sudan, followed by a journey to the United States by way of Cairo. Come and listen to his fascinating story and learn more about modern-day slavery. The event will take place in CAS B36 at 7 pm.
